Helping At Risk Youth Through EV Kids

EV Kids is an AMAZING organization! For over 30 years they have helped at risk children in the city of Boston. Through partnerships with Harvard University and Boston College Students, EV Kids provides mentorship and academic tutoring .

The results? Even more amazing (are you ready for this?): 100% of the kids that go through this program graduate high school and go on to college. That metric is the best we have ever seen! For these at risk children to have academic support, mentorship and friendship from some of the smartest young adults in the city of Boston is a beautiful thing. “To be able to have an impact on a child’s life changes the trajectory of their future,” says CRUSA CEO Brian Lovett. “It can mean the difference between them having a successful relationship or career. Based on their success rate, I know it’s worth the investment in EV Kids.”

At CRUSA, we are committed to supporting the wonderful work they do at EV Kids in a variety of ways. “We truly value our partnership with CRUSA, ” says Eric Thompson, Executive Director at EV Kids. “For our 30th Anniversary Gala, the team at CRUSA helped us streamline our special events donation platform and made a critical donation of laptops for the event. They’ve also donated laptops to our after school sites, which the kids use to work on everything from homework to researching colleges. In addition, they’ve done some computer recycling drives to raise money for the program. They also donated some furniture to the EV Kids office.”

Our CEO, Brian Lovett, has also served on the EV Kids Board of Directors for six years. “He was attracted to the mission of serving low income kids and teens in Boston, helping them succeed through education and the outdoor summer camp experience in Vermont,” says Eric. “Brian is the the kind of guy who is extremely selfless and always looking to leverage his passion for youth and education, so it was a great fit.”
